At Tokyo College of Medical Technology (Ryogoku, Sumida-ku), a lecture was held (co-sponsored by NPO MAIKEN and MEICIS). As many as about 40 participants gathered in spite of Saturday evening.

Asso Prof. Nemoto, Toho University, talked about the mental health care situation in Japan and the activities of MEICIS, entitled “To build the Community-based Integrated Care System is easy for everyone to use,” and Lecturer Onozaka, Shoin University, stalked about his local activities for Latin American residents in western Kanagawa Prefecture, entitled “Our Counseling Room Activities,” and Dr. Eriko Yamaguchi, Saiseikai Yokohama-shi Tobu Hospital, talked about the latest situation and needs in Japan, entitled “Mental Health Support for Increasing Foreign Residents: Actual Circumstances and Needs.”

In addition to the presentation in Japanese, we prepared slides and materials translated into Portuguese by Dr. Miura and Ms. Hoshi of MAIKEN, and worked to deepen participants’ understanding.

During the discussion, information and specific activities regarding the counseling room by Shoin Univ., medical and health services in Japan, and requests from the community were discussed.

While holding such seminars in various places, we would like to deepen our examination of the current situation, needs, and necessary local comprehensive care systems.
