Research funded by the MHLW requires that the results will be widely used and surely contribute to the welfare labor policy, and it is essential to consider the feasibility of the proposed systems and models in the research activities. In recent years, a discipline called implementation science has been developed to incorporate the knowledge and evidence obtained from research into society more realistically and effectively. Dr. Haruhiko Imamura, an assistant professor of Toho University School of Medicine, Department of Social Medicine, one of the pioneers in Japan in the field, gave a lecture entitled “Dissemination and Implementation Science.” The presentation and subsequent discussions seemed to clarify the issues that MEICIS should consider and our goals and paths to be pursued.
