On October 15, we visited the Brazilian Embassy in Japan and exchanged opinions with Ms. Gabriela Resendes, Counselor and Head of the Science & Technology and Cooperation Section.
We talked about MEICIS research and practice activities and explained the current situation of mental health in Japan. Moreover, we also talked about developmental disabilities, which is a topic of discussion among Brazilian children living in Japan, and shared the importance and necessity of early consultation and support for mental health and mental illness.
In addition to these issues, the counselor also requested us to deal with the stress caused by the aging and economic problems in the Brazilian community. While receiving referrals to Brazilian consulates in each region, we will work more closely to support Brazilian residents.
We will continue to make contact with the Brazilian Embassy and make an effort to develop a comprehensive community care system that support foreign residents in Japan.
